If you’ve been following this site (or my channel) for the last little bit, you’ll know that I’ve started playing Dungeons & Dragons again. Well there’s only so many things you need when playing D&D. One is a dice bag. Which I’ve just made a new version of. And it’s also handy to have a dice tower. Well I’ve made a dice tower before but the problem I run into with that one is that it’s not exactly what you’d describe as “portable”. So I set my mind to it, and I’ve come up with a design that I’m SUPER happy with for a brand new Collapsable Dice Tower.

Get The Pattern Here!

It’s definitely more complicated to put together than my original dice tower, but I don’t think overly so. It uses two sections, a tray and a tower, and locks into place using a set of foam core “keys”. I always enjoy it when a design comes into my mind and turns out pretty much exactly the way I envisioned it, and that’s what happened this time. I hope you enjoy it as well!

And of course the real goal here is to have something to blame when I roll nothing but 1s in an evening 🙂 I can’t wait to try it out next session!

So I’ve recently (and finally) gotten back into playing Dungeons and Dragons. It’s amazing how much I’ve missed it. I really do enjoy the shared experience of telling a story together with a group of people. Since I don’t know enough people where I am who play D&D, once I made my decision to start again, I had a look around for an Adventurers League group. Fortune smiled upon me, since it turns out that there was a group nearby that was just starting its run of the newest adventure from the folks at Wizards of the Coast, Storm King’s Thunder. Registration was opening soon, and there was a limit of about 20 people to play. Naturally I made sure I was there in plenty of time to ensure I had a seat. In this case, that was being there about 4 hours ahead of schedule. And boy am I glad I was there early. I think there was about 3 people ahead of me in the line, and within the hour, all the available spots had filled right up.

Of course, since I’ve also started putting out new content on my crafting channel, it seemed like an appropriate theme for me to tackle for some new content. So I’m starting off part 1 of a two part set of videos by creating an iron on D&D logo badge. I’ve got something specific in mind for me to put it on, but it’s something you can use on pretty much anything, assuming your anything has about 3″x3″ amount of space to iron on the badge.

If you’re looking to make this, but don’t know how to cross stitch, I’ve put up a cross stitch basics video as well to get you started. I’ve been doing this for at least 25 years now, and I doubt I’ll ever stop. It make take a lot of time to finish a project, but I’m always happy with them when I’m done.

Last last year I purchased myself a copy of Wizards of the Coast’s latest entry into their Dungeon & Dragons adventure system board games; Temple of Elemental Evil. It’s the 4th game in a series of games that are very simplified versions of the D&D table top games. I enjoy them because they don’t take a great deal of prep, and can be played by pretty much any body regardless of their knowledge of the Dungeons & Dragons system.

Since these games are usually jam packed with lots of cool pieces, I figured I’d record myself opening up the box, and showing you all what’s on the inside. I was not disappointed. There are LOTS of miniatures, a bunch of tiles, and a crazy amount of little cardboard pieces that while not used every time you play the game, are all part of the overall gameplay as you return again and again to battle the forces of elemental evil.

One of the things that really stood out as different than the previous versions, is the fact that the core gameplay is based on 5th edition, instead of 4th edition. I found that this really simplified a bunch of the game mechanics, in turn making the whole game play just a bit smoother. The other major change is the fact that this game also has a campaign mode, so as you progress through the game, you retain some items, and the deck has different components added depending on the outcome of your previous play throughs.

I hope you enjoy as much as I’ve enjoyed playing this game since I opened it. Which is a lot!
